Pooja Batra was born in Faizabad (Uttar Pradesh) in India on October 27th in 1976 into an army family. Her father Ravi Batra was wounded in action in the 1971(India-Pakistan) war & her mother Neelam Batra was a former Miss India participant.

Her first love was 200mts & 400mts dash. Through out school she was involved in sports, debating & plays. She graduated from the prestigious Fergusson College in Economics and attended Symbiosis for her MBA in Marketing. She started modeling at a young age as a part time job. She was best known for her Liril commercial. The bubbly girl from Pune was approached by a lot of Film makers from the Indian Film Industry to star in films but she refused so she could finish her education.

She was crowned Miss India(1993) while she was a sophomore and she went on to become one of the top supermodels in India walking the ramp in over 250 fashion shows in India & abroad. After many consistent film offers she signed Virasat.

She has worked with actors like Mohan lal & Mamooty in her Malyalam films. She is noted for her naturalness & intensity on screen. She has also acted on stage to considerable acclaim.

Her latest film is Taj Mahal-An eternal love story in which she plays queen Noorjehan. Taj Mahal was shown at Cannes 2005.

She currently maintains homes in Los Angeles & Mumbai.
