Yes! I have a European boyfriend, says Pooja Batra
May 24, 2017

The beautiful Viraasat actress, and Ms. India International 1993, Pooja Batra is going to reappear on the screens with two new films — a Hollywood sci-fi, One under the sun, and a Bollywood film, Mirror Game — Ab khel shuru.

Mirror Game is going to be an investigative thriller. The story revolves around a wife who is either kidnapped, or killed. “I am not playing the wife,” she says. “I play the Police Psychologist, and I am on the run to find out the reality. It’s an interesting role as I am trying to analyse whether the protagonist has killed the wife or he’s fibbing.”

Remembering her modeling career, she says that age does matter. While competing for Ms India, she used to worry about other people’s opinions too much! She advises young models, “Be original. Be confident. If you fall on the ramp, get up and walk as if nothing happened... I fell on my butt recently. But I got up, bowed, walked on. My fall was applauded.”

Talking about her personal life, Pooja says she is not ready for another marriage any time soon. After her divorce with orthopedic surgeon Dr Sonu Ahluwalia a few years back, she has been rumoured to be in a relationship with a European man.

Pooja finds marriage to be too much of a ‘knot’. “Yes! I have a European boyfriend… If you’re asking if marriage is on my mind, it is not, simply because I am independent. I have my business to sustain. Financially, I am self sufficient and would love to not be married as of now.”

When asked if she was, instead, living in with her boyfriend, she refused to answer. She felt the question to be way too personal and shot back, “Would you like being asked if you were having sex with your husband every night?” Ouch! Touchy topic.

The trailer of ‘Mirror Game’ crosses 1 million views on YouTube
May 19, 2017

Last week, the theatrical trailer of ‘Mirror Game: Ab Khel Shuru’ was released online. This film witnesses a stellar cast with actors like Parvin Dabas, Pooja Batra and Omi Vaidya playing the lead roles. The audiences are loving the trailer of this film and it is quite evident as it has already crossed the mark of 1 million views and counting on YouTube. The trailer’s success surely shows the fact that good content and good performances always stand out and never fail to engage the audience.

The film explores a very fresh and different genre in Bollywood films. While, actor Parvin Dabas plays the lead role of a professor of psychology, the beautiful actress Pooja Batra will be seen playing the role of an investigative police psychologist. And Omi Vaidya is playing pivotal part. Recently, there were reports that there has been a comparison drawn to the Hollywood blockbuster ‘Gone Girl’, owing to this film’s interesting plot and screenplay. (Also Check: The trailer of ‘Mirror Game’ will leave you thinking!)

Talking about the positive response the trailer has received and the comparisons drawn, filmmaker Vijit Sharma says, “We are elated with the response to the trailer. While it is exciting to see that some viewers have drawn parallels to the Hollywood blockbuster, ‘Gone Girl’, my film has nothing in common with it other than sharing the genre- thriller, suspense drama. While Hollywood has had a legacy of building and narrating suspense and drama in the space of psychological films like ‘Rear Window’, ‘Psycho’, ‘Memento’, ‘The Shining’ and ‘Fight Club’, the genre is more or less unexplored in Hindi cinema.”

“I have worked on a textured, layered cinematic journey for the audience with ‘Mirror Game: Ab Khel Shuru’. The idea is to send them on different exploratory paths through the life of the protagonist, the professor of psychology. And just as they seem to arrive at a conclusion, the end takes another unexpected turn! That a talented cast of actors with great pedigree agreed to work on this film has been a blessing. Pooja Batra, Parvin Dabas and Omi Vaidya elevate this story with their performances,” added the director.

A PVR Pictures release, produced by iCelerate Films and Rahula Kochar, ‘Mirror Game: Ab Khel Shuru’ is a psychological thriller and is slated to hit the screens on June 2, 2017.

Priyanka Chopra and Pooja Batra in a film?
May 20, 2017

There is a huge hullabaloo about Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra shining in the west. In fact many of them aren't aware that Pooja Batra is also part of Hollywood film ONE UNDER THE SUN which is the story of an astronaut Kathryn Voss (Pooja), a sole survivor of a disastrous space shuttle mission.

Pooja plays an astronaut, if this just wasn't enough Pooja is playing a psychologist in MIRROR GAMES which is a Bollywood film. Playing such character-oriented roles still Pooja doesn't believe in blowing her own trumpet.

In an exclusive conversation with Pooja Batra, she spoke about the growing trend of Bollywood, choice of films and the actors she would love to work with and also revealed that former Miss World was offered a film with her, but things didn't materialize.

On being asked about her film MIRROR GAMES, she said, “I am playing the role of psychiatrist and I really liked the role I could relate to it as I had dealt with few things as well. It's a strong role apart from that I am plying an astronaut in Hollywood film ONE UNDER THE SUN.”

We have seen Priyanka and Deepika in Hollywood and everyone knows about you but people aren't aware about you doing a Hollywood film why so? To which Pooja Batra replied, “Everyone has their own way of working. I stay in LA and now I want to often come to India and meet people and socialize. I am not too much active on social media. As far as Priyanka and Deepika are concerned they are doing great in their respective career. I would also like to say Priyanka and I were supposedto do a film but that never happened.” For more candid revelations watch out for Pooja Batra's conversation.

Would love to do biopic on P.T. Usha, says Pooja Batra
May 23, 2017

Pooja Batra believes good acting is what will help her survive in the world of cinema.

Actress Pooja Batra of Virasat fame, says she would love to do a biopic on former Indian athlete and Olympian P.T. Usha as she herself has been an athlete in her school days. “I would love to do biopic on P.T. Usha because I have been an athlete. I represented my school in 200 and 400-meter race at the national level. I have kind of played the role of Kalpana Chawla in a Hollywood movie One Under the Sun, in which I am playing the role of an astronaut,” Pooja said here at a media interaction for her upcoming film Mirror Game: Ab Khel Shuru.

“In India, we don’t make films on female athletes. It is important because, through our films, aspiring athletes gets encouragement. We don’t give much importance to sports in India. It is necessary for mental and physical development — whether it’s a group or solo sport. It enhances the personality of the individual in terms of discipline and confidence,” she added.

Talking about her character in Mirror Game…, Pooja said: “It’s a very gripping thriller. It’s my first film in this genre. In this film, I am playing a role of a criminal psychologist who tries to ascertain whether the character of Parvin Dabas is mentally stable and speaking the truth.

“In the US, there is a normal tendency of taking mental therapy, unlike in India where people assume that taking mental therapy is related to mental illness. Mental therapy helps the individual to rectify or minimise their errors which they are doing since their childhood and I have taken such therapies. So I always wanted to play such a character to analyse people by sitting on the opposite seat.”

Pooja is doing a Bollywood film after a while, and she believes there is “cut-throat competition”.

“There is only one way to survive in this industry, and that is good acting. Getting an opportunity at the right time also plays a major role to become successful,” she said. Mirror Game: Ab Khel Shuru is shot entirely in the US and the film revolves around a psychology professor in New Jersey, battling complications in his personal and professional lives. Parvin plays the lead role of a professor of psychology, while Omi Vaidya plays a pivotal part. The movie will release on June 2.
